August was a productive month for me overall. Word count wise, this has been the highest word count for August since I started keeping track. I also surpassed my yearly word count goal and 2026 is now the highest word count year that I have ever had! My Girlfriend is a Secret Agent also celebrated its one-month anniversary!

My biggest downfall from August has been social media. It has grown quite tiresome due to the overwhelming amount of bots. I also ran a few tests and no longer care what the algorithm thinks of links. I found that if I put a link in the main post or as a comment/second post, the overall view count remained the same. The major difference being that almost no one saw the link in the comment or second post. Kind of ruins the purpose of marketing my books, doesn’t it? There was a point where I considered getting rid of social media entirely or taking a break from it. I did end up taking a little break by scaling back my content. If you follow me on any of the platforms, you likely noticed a drop in posting activity from where it had been in July and the beginning of August. I’m back to business as usual now for the most part.
On the subject of social media, you may start to see more gaming content from me. At first, I kept gaming and writing on separate accounts. Running one social media account across all platforms can be exhausting enough so I decided to stop doing that. After all, my target audience are the same people who play the games that I play since those games inspired my writing in the first place.
In August I got over the development issues with the current story of the Celestial Saga. Working on book five was running into roadblocks knowing that I wasn’t satisfied with the story in four. I identified areas of improvement and some additions that I have to make to Celestial Saga IV and so far, I am incredibly happy with how the third draft is going! When looking at the previous two drafts of the story, the first one had a darker tone, and I liked how I wrote the main character’s personal conflict better. In the second draft, I liked how I wrote the supporting characters and events that occurred in the past better. I am combining the best of both so I can keep that darker tone that I originally intended, showing the struggles and progression of the main character through the story, and having a compelling supporting cast to go along with it. For September, I’m going to continue working on the third draft. I think I’m in a good place to either complete it by the end of the month or be close to completing it.
I also need to update my website which I have been putting off…
