Now that’s it’s been a month since the release of Celestial Saga: Brave New Galaxy, I’m sure you’re wondering what’s next for the Celestial Saga.
Well…so am I!
I’m totally joking about that.
First off, I would like to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who has read the Celestial Saga, checked out Crafting the Celestial Saga, or provided words of encouragement along the way. I love getting to talk to people about the stories, see their enthusiasm about the next book, and hearing how they’ve added it to their reading list. The reception for the Celestial Saga has been so much better than I ever imagined. I have learned a lot over these past three years, met a lot of great people, and have had a ton of fun! I don’t plan on stopping any of that any time soon.
I talk a lot about how I crafted and refined Dawn of the Seekers over ten years, but what I don’t mention or what could get lost in the context is that I’ve been working on the story of the Celestial Saga as a whole over that time as well. While I come up with new ideas and side stories within the universe, the main story has been planned out for a while. So don’t worry, I know what happens and I promise that I won’t keep you waiting too long for the next story.
That being said, I am taking some time to work on some other projects as well as the next part of the Celestial Saga. I have a lot of stories rattling around inside my head and I want to make sure that I am able to tell them the way that they are supposed to be told. Plus, it’s fun to work on these new ideas along with the Celestial Saga as well! I’ve got a few projects in the works right now such as Project KINGFALL, Project Spaceman, and another idea I’ve been plugging away at.
A friend of mine pointed out that over the past three years I have delivered a sci-fi epic in time for cider season. While I currently don’t have one of those planned for release in the Fall of 2026, I am planning on releasing something that year. Whether it will be one of the projects I mentioned in the paragraph above or not will remain to be seen.
As far as the Celestial Saga goes, I’ve already started writing the next trilogy. One of the things that I want to do before publishing the first book in this trilogy is to complete all three before releasing the first. This will ensure that I am able to deliver the new trilogy in a timely manner and have plenty of time to take care of any issues that arise along the way. I will admit, some things with Brave New Galaxy came down to the wire and I want to avoid that if I can. I can’t always predict or plan for the curve balls that life throws, but having the trilogy completed before the first book is published will help mitigate the unknown.
There will be no shortage of Celestial Saga content over the next year though! Crafting the Celestial Saga will continue with Shadow of the Emperor. Starting a year after release I will start releasing entries for Brave New Galaxy. I am still aiming at having the Celestial Saga website launched by the end of 2025, but I may push that back until 2026. The first wave of content is almost ready to go for the website. I’m looking at options for hosting the website to make sure that I find the right fit.
I am also working on some ideas to expand the Celestial Saga into multimedia work. As well as planning some interesting trailers for the upcoming trilogy. I am also looking at options for producing an audiobook of the first three books. These are some longer-term goals so I will not be making any announcements about those for a while. However, if Bryce Dallas Howard reads this, she has first dibs at making the Celestial Saga movie.
Earlier this year, George R.R. Martin had an unfortunate interaction with someone at a convention who brought up the author’s age and finishing a Song of Ice and Fire. I don’t agree with bringing something like that up to someone so bluntly, especially in a public place at an event that is supposed to be fun. Some time after that happened while I was driving home from work, I started thinking about my own mortality and how I didn’t have a plan for the Celestial Saga should my ticket get punched before I am able to complete it.
I thought about who would be a good fit to carry on the Celestial Saga and a friend of mine came to mind. I asked him the following week, and he agreed to continue the legacy of the Celestial Saga should anything happen to me before I can finish telling the story. He will have access to all of my notes, journals, hard drives, everything. I trust him and know that he will be able to tell the story in the way that I would want it to be told. I also know he would be able to capture the voice I use while telling the story. To that friend, I would like to say thank you again for accepting my request. While I hope he never has to answer the call, it does bring me some peace of mind knowing that he will be there should anything befall me.
Apologies for bringing the mood down there a little bit. It was just something that I had to throw out there. While I may be focusing on some other projects a little more after completing the Ethan Richards/Nova Team Trilogy, rest assured that I am hard at work at what comes next for the Celestial Saga. I have huge plans for the Celestial Saga as a whole and I cannot wait to put it out there in the world!
The story will continue.
